As Group CIO at Transnet, she solved the problem of high-cost contracts by spearheading the strategic disengagement of high-value ICT commodity contracts,(valued at R300m-R2bn) which unlocked R100M in direct cost savings.

  • While leading performance turnaround initiatives at Transnet, her application of Lean Six Sigma to the Manganese value chain solved critical inefficiencies, achieving financial improvements of R800 million.

  • At BCX, she was accountable for solving growth targets by achieving new business revenue of over R1.5bn from new business.

  • For a Maribe client facing growth stagnation, she devised the "GROWTH TO 100" strategy to solve significant customer concentration risk, targeting R5-10M in new revenue growth and diversification.

Solving Operational and Process Challenges

To address declining IT performance at Transnet, Rebatho Madiba led a 'back-to-basics' programme aimed at enhancing IT performance by strengthening ICT leadership cohesion under the 'OneICT' principle and key focus on Service Delivery Improvement. 


To solve compliance and risk issues at Transnet Engineering, she implemented an IT controls framework that resulted in the division being the only one to sustain a GREEN Critical Financials Controls Audit for the 2011/12 financial year.


At Transnet, she orchestrated an operational turnaround for the Group ICT PMO team, successfully improving cohesion and partnership.

 

Faced with inaccurate sales forecasting at BCX, she improved the Business Development framework to enhance collaboration between marketing, product management, and business development, which improved demand generation across an expanded product portfolio.

Driving Strategic and Innovation Solutions

As a Business Transformation Consultant and Business Model Engineer, Rebatho has a proven ability to build new capabilities transforming and modernizing outdated methods:


To solve the lack of a dedicated digital function at Transnet, she established the first Transnet Digital team and delivered the programme that developed the digital transformation business case and roadmap.

  • Faced with a need to modernize outdated workflows, she championed AGILE and Design Thinking adoption initiatives and sponsored the 'Digital 90 Day' programme to deliver impactful use cases like RPA and BOTs.

  • To solve the problem of ineffective collaboration, she improved the Business Development (BDM) framework at BCX and orchestrated an operational turnaround for the GICT PMO team at Transnet to improve cohesion and partnership.

  • When presented with the need for a market strategy for new technology, she spearheaded the Go-To-Market for new offer portfolios at BCX, including Cloud, AI, and Fintech.
